Imaging of oxygen and hypoxia in cell and tissue samples (review)

Prof. Dmitri Papkovsky and Dr. Ruslan Dmitriev have co-authored a review article focusing on microscopy of molecular oxygen (O2) and hypoxia in cells and tissues. The article published in Cellular and Molecular Life Sciences journal provides a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of the existing methodologies, fluorescence microscopy platforms, and available dyes, bio- and nanosensors allowing for quantification of hypoxia / oxygenation in cells and tissue. The review also describes available imaging instrumentation and highlights main biomedical applications of the methodology.
