NADPH oxidase function in gut infection

Prof. D. Papkovsky and Dr. A. Zhdanov have participated in recent study published in Cell Host & Microbe journal. In collaboration with Prof. U. Knaus and Dr. G. Aviello (University College Dublin) they studied the production of reactive oxygen species in NOX-dimerization partner knock-out mice during the infection of colon by various bacteria strains. Two-Acceptor Cyanine-Based Fluorescent Indicator for NAD(P)H in Tumor Cell Models

Dr. R. Dmitriev, PhD candidate J. Jenkins and Prof. D. Papkovsky, in collaboration with Regensburg Institute of Organic Chemsitry and Roche Diagnostics (Germany), have developed a new fluorescent "turn-on" probe for NAD(P)H detection in cancer cells. Such red fluorescent probe works in "end-point" assay formats, however it is highly compatible with both 2D (adherent cell cultures) and 3D (tumour spheroid) cell models. The probe can be used for multi-parametric imaging of cell metabolism in advanced in vitro and  ex vivo models of cancer. The manuscript published in ACS Sensors journal can be found here .
